PVC 500D, or PVC Tarpaulin as you may hear it referred to is basically made from two materials. The first is PVC film, which is a very versatile, flexible, elastic but hard wearing material that has many uses such as insulation and of course waterproof textiles. The other material is polyester fabric which is very strong and durable (being resistant to most chemicals). Polyester is also hydrophobic, which means it is quick drying. These two materials are used in the manufacture of PVC Tarpaulin bags and it is critical that the raw material sourced is free from holes and of good quality.
To manufacture waterproof bags uses a technique called thermo-welding. This ensures a perfect seal. Stitching obviously would create lots and lots of tiny holes along the bags seam rendering the waterproof material useless. A thermo-welded construction works very similar to metal welding where the material is heated to the point it melts and then it is bonded together to create a join. The plastic fibres are melted together to create an incredibly strong, durable water proof seal.
Other important aspects are manufacturing include attaching handles and printing logos. If you any specific queries regarding your enquiry please contact us via the form below and we will get back to you to within one working day.
Quality control is structured around two key areas in the production process. First off, the it is essential to be sure the material you are buying is without faults, holes or damage. To do this we usually enter the factory prior to production to random sample the raw material for order. The second inspection that The Idea Lab conducts is either mid way production or at the end prior to packing where we test first hand the actual waterproofness of a sample of completed bags. This is done by submerging bags in water and checking for leaks. With over 10 years in China manufacturing a range of backpacks and bags for clients we are your first choice to help you with production, ensuring your standards of quality and price are met without compromise.
